Emunah (אמונה) Faith Logos (λογική) Logic

This site is a growing research repository. I examine Scripture through the lens of its original Jewish audience, the original languages, and careful reasoning. Many sections remain under development. What you find here is the current state of the work, not a finished system.

Israel: 12 Biblical Prophecies Since 1948 Already Fulfilled

Why Faith and Logic?

Just as Jacob wrestled with Elohim (God), I wrestled with my faith and rationality as a young Christian, and in some sense, still do. I thought I had to abandon my logic and reason to become more ‘spiritual’. In my struggle, I believed faith and logic were antithetical - opposing forces, if you will. However, I’ve since learned that, in fact, they are not. Together, they are a path to divine revelation. You can call it philosophical and theological evolution by divine revelation.

Jacob Wrestles with Elohim or Divine Being (God)

Your name shall no longer be Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with beings divine and human, and have prevailed.’ Genesis 32:24-30

The act of reasoning enables us to wrestle with the things of God; I believe He meant it to be challenging and formidable. The wisdom of God is hidden from us until we seek it out. Also, grace through faith is the divine enablement, which gives us wisdom and victory over our sin nature, the pride of life, and what the Bible describes as principalities, powers and rulers of darkness.

Together, faith and the Logos merge to become the path and structure of our reality. In a sense, it’s also like Jacob’s ladder (Genesis 28:10-22). Even though we contend with life and ‘fight the good fight’, we are challenged by God to win; we must win. But, we can only win through Christ by grace to endure to the end and finally claim our prize.
